The 2020/21 Premier League season is over and we know now who has won the player and manager of the year. Ruben Dias and Pep Guardiola, both of Man City, have won them.
The Premier League have announced that Pep Guardiola has won the award for manager of the year in the Premier League.
The other contenders were Marcelo Bielsa (Leeds), David Moyes (West Ham), Brendan Rodgers (Leicester) and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (Man Utd). but the Spaniard was the winner. It comes after voting from both a panel of football experts and the general public.
This is City’s third Premier League trophy in four seasons and Guardiola won the award in those two campaigns as well. His third award puts him level with Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho, but it will be very difficult to get close to Sir Alex Ferguson’s 11.
When it came to naming the EA Sports player of the season, Man City’s Ruben Dias won the award. The Portuguese defender has made a tremendous impact since his move from Benfica and he is just the fourth defender to win it. The other three were Nemanja Vidic, Vincent Kompany and Virgil van Dijk.
24 year-old Dias beat last season’s winner Kevin de Bruyne (Man City), Bruno Fernandes (Man Utd), Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Mason Mount (Chelsea), Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Tomas Soucek (West Ham) to win the prize.
He made 32 appearances in the Premier League this season and kept 15 clean sheets. City also won the Carabao Cup and reached the Champions League final.
The 20 club captains as well as football experts and the public voted in this one. It was a sensational season for Ruben Dias and a well deserved prize.
