The Argentinian striker will renew for two years at Barcelona, barring a major surprise, and the agreement could be completed before the Copa America. That would allow him to focus 100% on the tournament in Brazil.
Leo Messi will stay at Barcelona barring a major surprise which would make Messi change his mind. Barcelona have done everything possible to make the Argentinian star stay.
Since Joan Laporta arrived, the new president has kept on saying that Leo Messi is more exciting than under the previous president, who “disappointed” the player. In the press conference he gave a few days ago, Laporta said that his renewal is “on track”, but that nothing had been completed yet.
The Barca president thanked Messi for understanding Barca during times of crisis and for accepting a pay cut.
After making two signings, one of them his friend Sergio Aguero, journalist Miguel Rico says that Leo Messi is about to put pen to paper.
Apparently there are just “structural details” to sort out in his new contract, a contract which has seen him do more than his bit to stay.
That means the deal could be completed before the Copa America so that Leo Messi has concentrate 100% on Argentina. There is also the possibility that everything gets sorted out when the Argentine comes back to Barcelona.
“We want to give Leo a new contract. It’s going well, but nothing has been confirmed. I’m convinced, like Kun, that we’re happy they’re playing together and I’m sure that Eric (Garcia) also likes that. Leo’s contract has got nothing to do with money. He wants us to win Champions Leagues, La Ligas… for us to win trophies,” Laporta said again during Eric Garcia’s presentation.
