Erik Lamela’s outrageous rabona goal for Tottenham against Arsenal at the Emirates was voted the Premier League goal of the season. It is a goal nobody will forget.
Erik Lamela has won the Premier League 2020/21 goal of the season award for his brilliant goal for Tottenham at Arsenal.
Back on 14th March, Erik Lamela gave Tottenham the lead after 33 minutes with a brilliant rabona through the legs of Thomas and into the back of the net. The goal was so good that even teammate Sergio Reguilon could not believe it.
Martin Odegaard’s leveller just before the break and then Alexandre Lacazette’s 64th minute penalty meant Spurs lost the game 2-1, but it was an absolutely sensational goal. Erik Lamela was actually sent off 14 minutes from the end.
A Tottenham player won the prize for the second year in a row after Son-Heung Min’s length of the field goal against Burnley won it in 2019/20. This is the first time an Argentine has ever won the award.
The other nine goal of the month winners were the other candidates. Votes from the public and a panel of experts meant this goal won the award and few can argue it was not the goal of the season.
